Associations and explanations

This image is inspired by several things, but only loosely.
The origin could be science fiction as well as fantasy or horror.
Some examples: Ursula le Guin once wrote a novel called "The word for world is forest".
Dante begins his journey in "The divine comedy" by getting lost in the dark forest.
Breton mentions in the 1st surreel manifesto a collapsed poem "Foret Noire" (=dark forest).
Ygdrasil is in norse mythology the World Tree - and four harts bite its leaves.
And so on. Trees are metaphores. And metaphores may be like trees...
