UFO

Unidentified Fotonic Objects

How known is the unknown?

An UFO normally means Unknown Flying Object. But everybody knows that. This name made sense in the beginning. Half a century ago. But today we have all seen a ufo, at least pictures, tons of tv, film, fiction. Little green men are no stranger today than indians were in the 1800'th century.

Today - after 40 years of Startrek, 6 Starwarsfilms, ET etc - "the unknown" is really wellknown. The label Ufo is now only a cliché.

Ironically, many wellknown objects are also no more than a cliché. Lots of things are wellknown, but only as a label. that is, we know the word not the object it self.

That's why I thought it might be an idea to reverse the situation. Below are some examples in monochrome:

How unknown is the known?

When an object is illuminated, the spectrum is partially reflected, rushing through space and arriving in our eyes. The lense creates a mirrorimage on the back of the eye - we see. Like this reality is visible. Nope. Much too simple. Seeing reality with our eyes, would be equal to say that we digest food with our mouth. Both parts are only the first step in a much longer proces. Lots of light-information is sent to the brain, that finally creates an image by ordering and selecting. But most is deselected. Information, we don't care about, is filtered out. Result: we see optically lots of things, that our mind don't really notice. Metaphorically: we're chewing on lots of things but swallow only few percent. We move on in a wellknown world, that we never observe; we know it all - all to well...
