Galactic plankton

Space graphic

Galactic plankton
Most types of galactic Plankton drift silently in interstallar space. It spends 99,99% of its lifetime in a dormant state, dreaming of light. Awakes only when a nearby star blossoms into a nova, drowning space with light. Within seconds Plankton multiplies into millions of copies devouring most of the photons that would otherwise have flooded the skies. In short, thanks to Plankton the nightsky remains black...

Order and chaos

Living image

It's all in your mind...

If you see a pattern moving right or left, up or down - it's an illusion. If you see a pattern starting ordered and gradually becoming chaotic, this is also an illusion. In fact, the pattern itself is an illusion...

Cycling towards eternity. These images find themselves somewhere in the limbo between stills and video. This kind could be called "living image", to separate it from motion-picture and still-leben. Alive but not in a linear fashion. Rather the image consists of a set of cycles, each one displaced a bit from the next. Each single displacement is minute but accumulated it begins to form a pattern. Especially when larger subcycles begin to interfere with each other. Read more...

Image and Communication in the Complexity Era

Essay by Ovidiu Bufnila, image counselor

Ovidiu Bufnila, romanian author

The deprivation of huge naval forces found in the bloody, tragic and impressive clenching announces an imperial structure. The difference is prepared. The imperial divers are dipping their harpoon in the Barbarians' blood. But aren't the Barbarians charming beings in the volutes of the world's hidden plan? Aren't they revealing themselves in the rain that came from beyond the visible horizon, modeling new gods? Read more...

René Magritte

Collection of quotes

Magritte: I don't paint visions. To the best of my ability, by painterly means, I describe objects, the mutual relationship of objects so that none of our habitual concepts or feelings is necessarily linked with them. Read more...

Thoroughly marked with some of the great themes of art history; thus Mikkes should be recognized as one of those modern artists who try to maintain the role of art as a medium for our questioning and our discussion of the individual’s relationship to the surroundings. Read more...

Master of the mysterious

Sidney Herbert Sime (1865-1941) was an english artist quite famous a century ago, but now almost forgotten. However, the best of his production deserves better. Here's a few examples of the work of Sidney Sime - master of the mysterious, the grotesque, the fantastic. Read more...

We are born colourblind

Our first sight is black 'n white

Human children are born into a black and white world. The cones in your eyes don't begin to function until you are 4 months old. Then vision undergoes a gradual transformation. One out of 40000 never develops cones, seeing only in black-and-white throughout life (Achromatopsia, or rod-monochromatic colorblindness)...
